Surveyors map streets for next year’s improvements

GOD first...Heavenly Father, we look forward to the days ahead where there are wonderous opportunities in doing our part for those around us who are reaching out trying their best to find peace and understanding. Strengthen our efforts to guide them to Your Amazing Grace and help them to open their hearts to receive Your Almighty Power as we ask in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Pray for those who are ill, suffering, grieving, or are in harms' way.

**A small boy in a department store was standing near the escalator watching the moving handrail.

'Something wrong son?' inquired the clerk.

'Nope,' replied the boy, 'just waiting for my chewing gum to come back.'

On Thursday evening, attheNordheimRec.Center, @ 6:30 p.m., a public meeting was held for the third time to listen to and ask questions about the Community Block Grant of $1,385,000, which will be used to improve drainage and ditches in the streets of Nordheim. It has been a work in progress for many months since 2024, as efforts to obtain this grant and the applying information and statistics to further process the application. Many hours have been spent by former Mayor, Kathy Payne, Mayor Patricia Garcia, and especially Pam Remmers, who have patiently gathered information necessary to further the application. It takes a lot of hard work and determination to spend hours to carefully make sure the application is thoroughly correct and applicable to the towns' needs and improvements.

Citizens will be seeing surveyors working on the southwest side of town mapping out streets, ditches, and marking all utilities that are underground. This will be one of the first indications in the process in finding contractors to begin bidding as soon as the first of next year. Citizens are asked to cooperate with the surveyors as they move about the town doing their mapping.

The Nordheim Shooting Club was the site of the Pfeifer Family Reunion this past Saturday which was hosted by the Ronnie Pfeifer family. So many people brought items for the brown bag lottery and visited again with relatives from far and wide. Lots of happy laughter and hugs renewed acquaintances with their heritage as offspring learned about their kinship with one another. A delicious meal, followed by a meeting, was held by the family in charge.

The young people of Nordheim will be having their last gathering of summer activities at the Nordheim Rec. Center on Tuesday evening with ice cream and water balloons. They all had a great time.

Last Thursday Kaffee Klatch was attended by 16 people who enjoyed conversations of varible different goings on. One told of experiences of friends that were in the flood that were almost swept away by rising water and had pictures of damages incurred afterwards. Pam explained the preparations of improving the parsonage for the prospect of a new pastor that is in the process of being called. The new pastor has not committed himself yet but more information is on the table as the church committee will soon be in touch again. She also told of the meeting at the Rec. Center later in the day. We all learn a lot during our coffee drinking time each Thursday. See you again soon.
