I donated blood on Jul 11th. Did you know for every pint of blood you donate, you potentially save four people. Please donate if capable. The 4-H judging team was recognized at the July regular meeting, and the young adults gave Council a presentation of their trip to Scotland. I am proud of them.
On July 21, Julian Henson gave a presentation at the regular meeting of the American Legion, who sponsored Julian to Boys State this year. Julian stated the experience was eye opening and thanked the group for the support.
Attended the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) meeting on July 24. Emergency notification for impeding weather/ emergency situations was discussed. Please keep up with information disseminated by local authorities when the potential for impending weather and dangerous conditions may exist. Although it is the responsibility of elected officials to safeguard human life and property damage, individual responsibility for one's own safety is important.
The council has approved the first reading of a 10-year contract with Texas Disposal Systems for garbage disposal; details, which will greatly benefit the citizens of Cuero will be posted on the City of Cuero website.
The Cuero Community and military organizations, the VFW, American Legion and the Vietnam Veterans Association are planning a ceremony on Tuesday August 5th, honoring Medal of Honor recipient Msgt. Roy P. Benavidez at his statue in Memorial Park at 5:30 pm. Family of Msgt. Benavidez will be in attendance. August 5th, 2025 would have been his 90th birthday. 2025 is also the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam war. Please plan on attending if possible. More to follow!
