The Cuero Chamber of Commerce recently announced the keynote speaker for their 2025 Women in Business Luncheon as Clara Villarreal Varner, a distinguished federal service veteran and former Deputy Chief Scientist at the CIA, as keynote speaker.
Varner has more than three decades of federal government service and brings expertise in technical management, leadership, and recruitment. From overseeing multi-million-dollar reconnaissance satellite programs to spearheading inter-agency collaborations with NASA and the U.S. Space Force, her impact spans national intelligence, space science, and workforce development. A Texas native and first-generation college graduate, Varner earned her degree in Aerospace Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin and has mentored countless professionals in engineering, project management, and work-life balance throughout her career.
“My message is one of resilience,” said Varner. “I hope to share my personal and professional journeys as a testament that resilience and determination enable success despite odds stacked against you... and even in a male-dominant profession away from family.”
Angie Cuellar, Executive Director of the Cuero Chamber of Commerce, said this year’s event builds on the excitement and momentum of last year’s inaugural luncheon.
“Last year’s event was incredibly successful, empowering, and engaging. We had such a great turnout and inspiring dialogue, and this year is sure to bring the same and more,” Cuellar said.
While the 2025 panelists will be announced soon, the Chamber promises another dynamic group of women sharing valuable insights and personal experiences in leadership, entrepreneurship, and career growth. The event will also include vendor booths with resources tailored to women- owned and women- led businesses, a catered lunch, and opportunities to connect with others in the local business community.
Scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 24, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Venue on Church Street, individual tickets are $30, and reserved tables of eight are available for $350. Vendor booth space is available for $100 for Chamber members and $150 for non-members and includes two lunch tickets.
