DEMOCRATIC WOMEN’S MEETING

The DeWitt/LaVaca County Democratic Women will hold its monthly meeting on August 1 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Maya’s restaurant in Cuero. All are invited. ETHOSHA LYNN BACK-TO-SCHOOL BASH Each year the Cuero Municipal Park Pavilion has been the central hub for the Ethosha Lynn Back-to-School Bash. Join us for another year celebrating Ethosha’s dream. She believed that it didn't matter what their mental, physical or financial status was, no child should be overlooked. And for more than 10 years, donors, volunteers, sponsors and many more have helped the Tri-City Empowerment Council keep that dream alive. CLASS OF 1975 50TH REUNION The CHS Class of 1975 50th Reunion will be held Aug. 2 at the Cuero Country Club from 6-10 p.m.; cash bar; $20 per person. 2026 NORDHEIM STOCK SHOW VALIDATION Steer and breeding cattle validation for the January 31, 2026, Nordheim FFA Stock Show will be held on Saturday morning, Aug. 2, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Nordheim School FFA Barn.

Junior FFA and FFA students in grades 3-12 are eligible to show steers and present a breeding animal (s), if the student meets the criteria as stated in the General Rules of the Nordheim FFA Stock Show. SLA FAMILY REUNION

The Simmons, Lemons, and Adams (SLA) Annual Family Reunion will be held Saturday, Aug. 2, from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. at Blase’s Hall (361/798-2978) in Hallettsville. Any descendants of the Simmons, Lemons or Adams that reside in Lavaca, Victoria, Harris, Travis, Bexar, Fayette, Dallas, Wharton, Caldwell, and other surrounding Texas counties are encouraged to attend. Please bring desserts (extra for the cake walk), raffle gift, vegetables, Yourself, and others. Scholarship winners are announced during this time. The theme for 2025 is “God’s is in Control” - Psalms 24:8-10. The contest is “Meaning of our African American Colors.”

‘SAVOR THE FLAVOR’ TASTING & STYLE SHOW The Cuero Chamber of Commerce invites the community to its inaugural Savor the Flavor: Cuero Tasting & Style Show on Thursday, Aug. 7, 5:30 - 9 p.m. at the Cuero VFW Hall.

Showcasing 12 local food and drink vendors, the evening offers tastings across appetizers, main dishes, desserts, and beverages.

Guests will also enjoy a runway fashion show, featuring men’s and women’s styles from area boutiques, with awards for Best Style and Best Showmanship.

Tickets are $50 each or $500 for reserved tables of 10, including full access to tastings, drinks, live entertainment, swag bags, and a bucket raffle supporting Chamber initiatives. CUERO VFW BINGO Cuero VFW Post 3972 has resumed weekly games of Bingo at the Post Home. Games will begin at 7:30 p.m. Proceeds of these games benefit local charities, youth, and veterans in need. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

CHILD FIND EVALUATIONS

School Districts must ensure that a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) is provided for children who are identified as needing special education and related services. Child Find is a process to identify, locate and evaluate individuals from birth to 21 years of age who may need special education and related services. Evaluations for Cuero, Meyersville, Nursery and Westhoff ISD are available through Child Find. Early childhood intervention programs serve children with developmental delays and their families.
