GOD first....Merciful Father, we struggle each and every day in searching to be what You want us to be but to perfectly reach that point, our sins betray us. Lord, help us to try our best each and every day to be and do better as we ask in the name of our Savior, Jesus. Amen.
Pray for those who are ill, suffering, grieving, or are in harm's way.
**Otto bought himself a new pickup truck. He called his pal Albert and said, 'Albert, I got a brand new pickup truck. Do you want to go fishing with me?' 'Sure!' says Albert.
So Albert went with Otto and of course, his wife, Leona, had to come along to ride in the new pickup. Well, Otto and Leona sat in the front seat and Albert had to sit in the back of the pickup because Otto and Leona were very portly people so there wasn't any room up front. They drove out on the ice and almost reached their destination when all of a sudden the pickup broke through the ice and sank.
Even though Otto and Leona were pretty big people, they managed to get out of the pickup and up to the surface, and back on top of the ice. Albert took a little while longer to surface and Otto asked, 'Albert, what took you so long?'
Well,' says Albert, 'It took me a while to figure out how to open the tailgate of your new pickup!'
All this past week, the contractors have been putting the final touches to the 4 lane highway around Nordheim from the De-Witt/Karnes County line to the east side of Yorktown. Progress is still going on from Yorktown to Cuero on Hwy 72 with a lot of delays along the way during working hours. Expect to run into delays as crews are moving heavy equipment from one side of the road to the other. Some are taking the Ratcliff Road to bypass and avoid all the construction going on. It sure is nice to drive on a smooth road. But be extra careful where there is construction going on and be aware of the roadway changes that come up now and then.
Next weekend, April 11th, the Nordheim Volunteer Fire Department is having their 8th Annual BBQ Cookoff. Friday, the Corn Hole tournament will start at 6pm. To register, you need to contact Ronnie Pfeifer for more information. 361-563-2644.
On Saturday, 12th, Cook Off Registration starts at 8am. That's all I've got as information is hard to get sometimes.
At Kaffee Klatch this past week, one lady, a very nice cat lover, Ruth said she had a problem with one of her cats that was stuck up in a tree. It was a kitten that constantly meowed all day and night. She tried to get the cat down by putting a ladder against the tree and climbing up but the ladder was too unsteady so she put some food on the top of the ladder but the kitten still would not come down. Other cat lovers chimed in with a lot of suggestions. One said that if she would put another cat in the tree, it might show the kitten how to climb down but she declined that since she would have to throw the cat up there and she wasn't going to risk that. Finally after they all ran out of options, one man said he had a simple answer and being long of tooth, he simply said, 'Chop down the dam tree!'
