Have you ever had a flat on Sunday?

GOD first...Heavenly Father, be with those friends, neighbors, and family members who deal daily with difficult situations in which we are often unaware. Touch them with Your special love and let them know that they can lean on You and bring peace and healing to those that are suffering as we pray in the name of our Savior, Jesus. Amen.

Pray for those who are ill, suffering, grieving, or are in harm's way.

**During a seance, a medium was bringing people back from the other world. A 10-year-oldwasamong those present. 'I want to talk to Grandpa, ' he insisted.

'Quiet!' hushed the medium, quite annoyed.

'I want to talk to Grandpa,' repeated the kid.

'Very well, little boy,' said the medium, making a few hocus-pocus passes. 'here he is.'

'Grandpa,' said the little boy, “What are you doing there? You ain't dead yet.'

The highway around Nordheim is slowly progressing and the Johnson Grass, which has been a hazard, has finally been shredded down, especially on the southern edge of the new highway. I guess the complaining did some good.

At Kaffee Klatch this past Thursday, there were concerns about a lot of things. But most pressing was what we were going to do about not having a pastor to conduct Sunday Services. When Pastor Jonathan was transferred to another church, we were told that Larry will be taking over for next Sunday and Pastor Jonathan okayed for him to preach. Someone brought up his pay and asked questions about it. One even thought it might be a nice gesture to only get half pay since he couldn't play the piano. Larry explained that he was serious about preaching this one sermon as he had been reading the scriptures and praying about it and he convinced us that he wanted to do this. Knowing Larry, he would have preached this sermon for free because he truly believed he was called to bring us this message.

After my three daughters came Friday and cleaned out all the cabinets and drawers in my kitchen, I now have room for my stuff. It's amazing how much can be accumulated in 68 years of marriage. They even found items that I have quit looking for and figured they were gone for good. Didn't know we had so much junk. They did an excellent job and now it's all on the dining room table for the grand kids to go through.

Sunday, Dennis, Alma Jean, and I, and Carol as our designated driver, went to Orange Grove to attend a Bues-Fuhrken family reunion. This was planned before Larry was to preach. Plus, we didn't want to embarrass him if he did poorly. When we got to the reunion, the back tire on Dennis' van was going flat. In fact, it went flat all the way as Carol parked it. Dennis and I had not been to a reunion for almost 20 years, so most of the ones that were kin back then had already passed to their reward. Nueces County Agent Harvey Buering was the first person we encountered and has been an old time friend and kin folks. After a great noon meal, he helped us with trying to find someone to repair our flat tire. Having only the small donut spare, he couldn't find a place that was open. Have you ever needed a tire repaired on a Sunday? As word got around, one individual had a tire repaired in Calallen, so as Harvey led the way. We found a Firestone Store, but they were closing at 5 p.m. Then went to Walmart at the next block and they were too busy and one of their tire machines was broken. Harvey had one of those tire inflators that hooked up to his battery and inflated the donut and brought some tire sealer at Walmart and did enough to get us home. Driving at 50 mph, it took us longer but the scenery was good and roads were wide enough to let the heavy traffic go by. That's our story and we are sticking to it. See you next week.
