Chicken Fried Steak Dinner

The Nordheim Booster Club is having a Chicken Fried Steak Dinner Fundraiser on Aug. 25.

Plates will consist of Chicken Fried Chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, cobbler and a roll. Plates are $15. Driveway Through Pick-Up Only at Nordheim Fire Station 5- 7PM.

KidsFIRST Launches First Baptist Church is launching KidsFIRST, our Wednesday night program, on Aug.27. Children ages PreK 4-Grade 6 are invited . A free supper is served at 5 p.m., with classes starting at 5:30.

Preschool and Kindergarten enjoy stories, music, missions, and crafts from the Beginner's Bible Curriculum. Kids grade 1-6 will learn of God's Amazing Story from Genesis to Revelation. VFW Chili & BBQ Cookoff

Get the BBQ bragging rights in Cuero at the VFW Post 3972 Chili & Bar-B-Que Cookoff on Sept. 5-6. Categories include deviled eggs, margaritas, open meat, chicken, homestyle chili, jack pot beans, Tolbert (sanctioned) Chili, ribs, and brisket. Judges are needed.

The Yorktown Chamber of Commerce hosts 80s Bingo on Saturday, Sept. 13, at the DeWitt County Veterans Center, 901 State Hwy 72. Doors open at 6 p.m., meal served at 6:30 with bingo following. Women in Business Luncheon

The Cuero Chamber’s 2025 Women in Business Luncheon will be held Wednesday, Sept.

24, from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. at The Venue on Church Street.

Keynote speaker Clara Villarreal Varner, a former CIA Deputy Chief Scientist, will share her inspiring story of resilience, leadership, and success in STEM. Sts. Peter & Paul Fall Festival

Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 11220 FM 237, Meyersville, TX Fall Festival is Sunday, Sept. 28. Enjoy our BBQ Meal - dine-in or to-go available from 11 am to 12:30 pm. Plates are $15. Order of Christian Initiation

OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation for Adults) begins Thursday, October 2nd, at 6:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Church in Yorktown. This process is for those interested in joining the Catholic faith, those needing to receive the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation), and those returning to the faith. Library/Crown Hospice Senior Social Hour Crown Hospice is holding a Senior Social Hour at the Yorktown Public Library on the 1st Monday of every month.

Do you love photography?

Do you want to learn more, be inspired, challenged? Do you want to get together with other creative photographers? If so, please join us at a Shutterbugs meeting. Meetings are held on every third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Cuero Public Library in Cuero, 207 E.

Cuero VFW Bingo

Cuero VFW Post 3972 has resumed weekly games of Bingo at the Post Home.

Games will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Proceeds of these games benefit local charities, youth, and veterans in need. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Child Find Evaluations School Districts must ensure that a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) is provided for children who are identified as needing special education and related services. Child Find is a process to identify, locate and evaluate individuals from birth to 21 years of age who may need special education and related services. Evaluations for Cuero, Meyersville, Nursery and Westhoff ISD are available through Child Find. Early childhood intervention programs serve children with developmental delays and their families. Eligibility is determined through a team assessment by program staff.

Child Screening Services

Residents of Yorktown, are you aware of a child with problems walking, seeing, moving or thinking? Free screening services are available for children from birth through five years of age. Call 361-564-2252 ext. 3002 for an appointment.

Screening will be held at Yorktown Elementary School.

Meals on Wheels Volunteers Needed Volunteers are needed to help deliver meals in the central DeWitt County area for Meals on Wheels South Texas. Meals are delivered once a week on Wednesdays from about 11 a.m. to noon. If you are interested in volunteering you can go to mowstx.org or email [email protected].
