The Kitty Kat volleyball team is under new leadership with the hiring of Head Coach Patti Zenner. As the season kicks off, fans and players alike are eager to see how her championship mindset will shape this new team. Zenner’s legendary legacy was forged at Poth ISD, where she transformed the volleyball program into a powerhouse of consistent excellence and one of the state’s most successful dynasties.
Over 31 seasons, she led her teams to a staggering 306-14 district record, capturing 27 district titles. Her resume includes 24 regional tournament appearances, 19 trips to the regional finals, 13 state tournament berths, 12 state final appearances, and an incredible 9 state championships (1995, 1996, 1997, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2009, 2011, 2014). Last season, she added another milestone to her storied career—her 900th win—further solidifying her place among Texas volleyball’s elite.
The Kitty Kat Volleyball team returns to the court armed with optimism after a strong 2024 campaign that ended with a Co-District Championship and a bi-district playoff appearance. The team finished last season with a 21-14 overall record. The 2025 team features six returners including standout Gracie Stehling, who was honored as Co-Newcomer of the Year, and Avery Martin, a First Team All-District selection.
Zenner was praised as “a cornerstone of Texas high school sports” who has “cultivated champions, built powerhouse programs, and inspired generations of athletes.” during the Texas Girls’ Coaches Association Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Zenner’s legacy is woven into the fabric of Texas high school athletics, and all are anxiously awaiting to watch the journey the 2025 Kitty Kat team embarks on as players embrace their roles, and rise to their potential while witnessing with eager anticipation greatness at the helm.
