If not you, then who?
I was watching a video on Facebook that really spoke to me. It was about a young black girl that was approached by a pageant recruiter to be in the Miss USA pageant. She was a beautiful young lady with a good attitude and had mapped out a clear path for her future. At first, she was offended that a middle-aged white lady would approach her, ask her very personal questions, and then, tell her she could be the next Miss USA.
This young lady talked with the lady and decided to enter the Miss USA pageant. She did not win but she never gave up. In fact, she lost six times in a row and questioned her ability to win over the judges and let them know she deserved the title.
So many of us today do the same as this young lady did. We question ourselves and our ability about accomplishing things that seem so hard to us. Many of us as Christians, question our ability to speak to people about the saving grace of Jesus Christ because we have the fear of rejection or failure. All one needs to do is read Acts 22 about the Apostle Paul. He was on the road to Damascus when he was approached by our Lord. Paul persecuted people who believed in Jesus and even participated in the stoning of the Christian Martyr Stephen. The Lord’s appearance converted Saul to become a believer and he was transformed into a Christian Apostle and took the name of Paul. He immediately began witnessing for our Lord and Savior traveling to several cities and talking to anyone that would listen to him.
The same holds true for us today about accepting Christ as our Savior and Lord. He instills into us a want to speak to others about Him and share His good news of His saving grace. Most Christians hold on to what He has done for them and are afraid to speak on His behalf to others. If you believe that Jesus is your Lord and Savior, He will guide you in your actions and speech. He will always be with you and never, ever let you down. All you must do is believe in Him and accept Him into your heart.
Most Christians do not want to speak to others about Jesus because fear builds up in them about ridicule and non-acceptance from our peers. We become afraid to address our fears and remain quiet. The Lord will always give us opportunities to witness for Him, just as He did the Apostle Paul.
The young black woman that was approached about being in the Miss USA pageant had her life planned to be in the military. She was skeptical about hearing what the pageant recruiter was saying to her but overcame her fear and tried out for the pageant. She lost her bid for winning six times before she finally became Miss USA.
This happens many times when we try and witness to others about the saving grace of Jesus. We may think we are failing but it is not our decision on whether they accept Christ as their Savior or not. We are to plant the seed and Jesus will reap the harvest.
Most of us leave witnessing to our preachers, pastors, and others. We need to become bold in our witnessing, especially in these days and times, because as the Bible tells us we are probably in the last days.
All of us need to remember what the young black lady learned. If not you, then who?
Prayer: Thank you Lord for my time on earth. I pray that I will be the witness to others that you want me to be. Amen.
