Pet Adoptions of Cuero has been blessed this past summer with energetic teens coming by to help, but the need for drop in help is always there. The shelter averages 35 to 40 dogs and puppies and at least 30+cats and kittens in its daily inventory. Most volunteers are assigned to walk the dogs, play with the puppies to keep them socialized, tease the cats with play toys and bathe the little kittens.
Anyone from 16 to 96 is welcome to volunteer — no training necessary and the pets truly appreciate the new love and attention. It is advised to wear closedtoe shoes, no sandals and of course casual attire like t-shirts and jeans or shorts.
Come by any day of the year. The shelter is open all 365 days from 8 a.m. till noon. If you can’t adopt, volunteering is the next best thing. Share some loving human time with all the rescue and shelter orphans. Need points for National Honor Society or Community Service hours? Pet Adoptions can document your time as PAOC is a 501c3 nonprofit.
The shelter is at 407 U.S. Highway 183 South in Cuero. If you need more information, call 361-243-8550. Thanks to Ava and Dalton who helped this summer.
