Refugio alumni reunion set

STAFF R EPORT Refugio High School alumni from the classes of 1965 through 1975 will gather Sept. 11–13 for “Rewind the Times: The Bobcat Years,” a special multi-class reunion hosted by the Refugio ISD Education Foundation.

RHS exes living in the Cuero and Yorktown area are invited to attend, said Mary Henkel Judson, who is one of the organizers of the reunion. Judson, retired co-publisher of the Port Aransas South Jetty, is serving as publicist.

“We are aware of many RHS former students living in Cuero, Yorktown and the surrounding area,” Judson said.

The weekend promises a mix of nostalgia and fun — starting in Rockport with a welcome social, then shifting to Refugio on Friday. A campus tour starts the festivities, followed by a tailgate party and the Bobcat football game. The evening will be capped with a social at the former Bowl-A-Rena, a popular hang-out for students of the 1960s and 70s. Saturday brings a brunch, golf, art, shopping, a party barge canal cruise, as well as dolphin and bird watching.

The reunion will be highlighted by a Satur- day night bash with food, drinks and music from the era. Special milestone reunions will be honored for the classes of 1965 (60th), 1970 (55th), and 1975 (50th).

Registration is free and open now at www.refugioeducationfoundation. org, where attendeescan also view hotel options and sponsorship opportunities.

“This is the moment to reconnect with old friends, celebrate Bobcat pride, and make new memories,” organizers said.

Follow updates on the Refugio ISD Education Foundation’s Facebook page or any RHS alumni Facebook group “and get ready to rewind the times!” said lead organizer Mark Richardson, Class of 1970.
