Mary Bernice Kohutek Bagwell

Mary Bernice Kohutek Bagwell passed from this life on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. She was born April 22, 1931, at Sweet Home, Texas, to Albert and Lottie Lee Kohutek. In her 93 years of living loud and large, she worked hard, raising three children while homemaking, turkey farming, sewing, ranching, school bus driving, flower arranging and later management of several businesses she and her husband, Curtis, started. In leisure time, she truly enjoyed fishing, dancing and gambling. She grew up playing penny-ante poker with her brothers and sisters, and she was hard to beat. In later years, she was blessed to travel extensively to places like the Panama Canal, Alaska, Mexico (by train), and various cruise destinations. She became an art collector from her many finds at estate sales, and her and Curtis’ home has been a gallery for many years. She loved being out in nature and never ceased to marvel at God’s beautiful creation.
