Not ready to adopt a pet? Not sure if a pet will enhance your lifestyle? Don’t know what it takes to “parent” a fur baby? Then just swing by Pet Adoptions of Cuero and try their fun, new “Dog for a Day” program. Families, Seniors, Singles — here is the best way to test canine ownership.
Recently Leslie and Jacoby Frisby from Goliad decided they wanted to make it a special day for Rocky, a sweet shy pet who has been featured in past Cuero Record articles. He is the little pup that was abandoned, mistreated and had health issues galore prior to his arrival at PAOC. They decided to treat Rocky to a day away from the shelter. They wanted to give him lots of human and one on one attention. After a brief “get to know you” period at the shelter, Rocky was treated to a fun romp session at the dog park, had a fellow canine to play with and then had some Chick-Fil-A treats on the way back. The Frisbys were his new best friends for the day. It meant a lot to this pup and also to the shelter staff to see he was getting the care he really deserved even if it was just for a day.
The PAOC shelter is inviting one and all to give “Dog for a DAY” a try. Food, collars, leashes, towels etc. are provided along with mini instructions on making the most of the dog’s experience. It is such a treat for the canines to get out of their normal every day boredom in a kennel or run. It also is a bonus for the PAOC staff and crew to have a few less dogs to care for each day. Ready to give it a try and enjoy a fun photo opportunity? The Pet Adoptions of Cuero shelter is located at 407 US Highway 183 South, Cuero and is open every day of the year from 8 am till noon.
