The Yorktown Kitty Kats fought hard but came up short against Skidmore Tynan, dropping the match in three sets (25-9, 25-18, 25-18).
In the opening set, Skidmore- Tynan jumped out quickly and built a 16-5 lead. Yorktown’s highlights came from Gracie Stehling with a pair of kills and a block, plus an ace from Claire Person, but Skidmore-Tynan closed out 25-9.
ThesecondsetsawYorktown settle in. Carsyn Brown opened with service and got the lead for the Kitty Kats, while Person and Stehling combined for several kills. Palyn Koopmann added an assist on a strong attack by Hayle Russell, and Trinity Flores chipped in with steady passing. Stehling also delivered an ace to cut the deficit to 8-6, but the Lady Bobcats answered with another scoring run to finish the set 25-18.
In the final set, Yorktown showed more fight at the net. Stehling and Russell tallied multiple kills with assists from Brown and Koopmann, while Carly Weischwill recorded a block. Paige DeLeon added a late kill and assist to help narrow the gap, and Stehling served an ace to bring Yorktown within striking distance. Despite the rally, Skidmore-Tynan secured the sweep with another 25-18 win.
