The Yorktown Wildcats wasted little time putting points on the board Friday night against the Skidmore-Tynan Bobcats. Quarterback Brody Metting punched in a one-yard run to open the scoring at the 9:38 mark of the first quarter, though the kick failed, leaving the score 6-0.

Just three minutes later, Metting connected with Brayden Knostman on a 20-yard strike, extending the lead to 13-0 after Adam Serbin’s extra point.

The Bobcats answered with a 14-yard run with 2:30 remaining in the quarter, trimming the score to 13-6.

In the second quarter, McKenzie Yanta powered through on a nine-yard touchdown run at the 11:52 mark, pushing Yorktown ahead 19-6. Skidmore-Tynan responded with a nine-yard score of their own to make it 19-12.

Knostman delivered a highlight moment midway through the second, breaking free for a 47-yard touchdown run with 5:52 left in the half. Metting followed with a successful twopoint scramble, giving the Wildcats a 27-12 advantage. Metting later scored again on a long run, but the extra point was no good. On the ensuing kickoff, Skidmore-Tynan struck back with a 68yard return to stay within reach, 33-20 at halftime.

The Bobcats opened the second half with another big play, scoring on a long run to narrow the gap to 3326. Yorktown responded in the fourth quarter when Metting dashed in from 15 yards out to stretch the lead to 39-26.

Skidmore-Tynan wasn’t done, adding an eight-yard touchdown late, but the Wildcats’ defense held firm to secure the victory of 3932.

With the win, Yorktown improved its record to 2-1 and showed a balanced attack.
