Capital Farm Credit awarded a $1,000 grant to Cuero’s Downtown Artisan Market on Main this fall.

Cuero was one of nine Texas cities receiving the farmers market grants through the company’s Farmers Market Grant Program. The annual grants are intended to strengthen infrastructure, expand outreach, and increase access to fresh, locally grown food.

Main Street Director Sandra Tague Osman said the grant will go toward promoting the ongoing annual event that takes place under the Library Market Pavilion and runs from March through October on the fourth Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Each year, a new banner is created for the market along with rack cards to hand out to visitors to attract them to the event, she noted.

”We are fortunate recipients of the Capital Farm Credit grants, which support local agriculture,” Osman said. “Their reviewing committee agreed that supporting Cuero’s Downtown Artisan Market on Main would serve as a wonderful resource for our community.”

Capital Farm Credit is a customer-owned financial cooperative providing loans, leases, and insurance solutions for farmers, ranchers, rural landowners, and agribusinesses in Texas.

This year’s recipients were Bastrop 1832 Farmers Market, Downtown Cuero Artisan Market on Main, Farmshare Austin, Laredo Main Street El Centro De Laredo Farmers Market, Lake Creek Greenway Partnership, Quanah Market, Everyone Eats Pantry, Inc., Vernon Farmers Market - Vernon, Texas, Wichita Falls Farmers Market “From Bastrop to Wichita Falls, these community markets not only connect local farmers with consumers but also support small businesses and strengthen local economies,” Capital Farm Credit officials said in a press release announcing the grants.
