GOD first...Heavenly Father, how many times have we walked through a door and forgot why or what we were searching for? How many times have we looked for something and couldn’t find it after looking for hours, days, weeks, and maybe years? Help us, Lord. Help us find the truth in our searches, not for material things, but for things that matter most of all. Bless us through strength of Your Amazing Grace, to follow only paths that leads us to our salvation through Jesus Christ in who’s name we pray. Amen.
A doctor was having an affair with his nurse. Shortly after this started, she announced that she was pregnant. Not wanting his wife to find out, he gave her a large amount of money and asked her to go out of this country to Germany to wait out the pregnancy and have the baby over there. ”But how will you know when our baby is born?’ she asked. “Well,” he said. “After you’ve has the baby, just send me a post card and write ‘sauerkraut’ on the back.” So she took the money and went off to Germany. Six months later, the doctor’s wife called him at his office. “Dear, you’ve received a very strange postcard in the mail today.. I don’t understand what it means! Later that evening the doctor came home and reads the postcard which said. ”Sauerkraut, sauerkraut, sauerkraut. Two with weiners and one without!”
As I have been writing my article faithfully every week, some were put in the Yorktown News, and some were not. If this week’s article gets in this week and comes out on the first of October, I’ll be grateful not to have to have to make excuses on my part. I have been bringing my articles on Friday so it will be delivered this past Friday, Sept. 27. If I waited until Monday, Sept. 29, I may not get it in on time as it sometimes happens.
The Yorktown newspaper comes out on Tuesday, and we get the news on Wednesday. Some can’t wait. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, I have been going to the Cuero Rec. Center, usually getting there by 6:30am to do my exercising. I try to do this very early, so I don’t have to face the sun. Hwy. 72 from Yorktown to Cuero is being closed later in the day to do construction and there are delays and I avoid that too.
At our Koffee Klatch, we finally met our new pastor and her parents. Those of us there quickly approved her as we were glad to finally see her face to face. There was plenty of hot coffee, cakes, and cookies while getting to know her better. Then on this past Sunday, she delivered her first sermon at St. Paul Lutheran Church. This new pastor is a keeper so I’m not giving out her name as it seems that other churches will try to snatch her away. As I left from Koffee Klatch, I did see a UHaul trailer being unloaded in front of the Parish House. After the service, there was a reception dinner so that church members will get to talk to her and get better acquainted.
Since Sunday last week, we were told that we will be getting some good rain on Wednesday and Thursday. Liar, liar, pants on fire. I did hear thunder both days and I sent my dog out both evenings and early morning and she didn’t get wet. The thunder was so far away it didn’t even scare her. Her paws wee even dry when I let her in. We have been praying for rain and if this pastor, we now have, doesn’t talk our Heavenly Father into getting us some rain...well? Just kidding. As my good old dad always said, “Each day we are getting closer to rain.” In his 95 years, with patience, it always came true. GOD works in Wonderous Ways. Amen.
