The American Heart Association has recognized Cureo Regional Hospital with two honors related to its emergency care department’s quality of service.
The awards are Mission: Lifeline EMS Gold Award and Get With the Gudelines — Stroke Gold Plus Award.
DeWitt Medical Foundation Director Nikki Lantz said the awards reflect the hospital’s quest for excellence.
“We are proud t announce that our hospital has been recognized with two prestigious honors from the American Heart Association,” Lantz said in a statement. “These awards highlight our emergency team’s commitment to providing rapid, high-quality, lifesaving care when seconds matter most.”
The hospital celebrated the achievement with a reception in the hospital’s main lobby, introducing the emergency room team to the community Tuesday morning, Sept. 30.
The AHA’s Mission: Lifeline program highlights the importance of EMS in the overall system of care for cardiac and stroke patients. For patients with an ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI)—the deadliest type of heart attack—timely and effective treatment is critical to restoring blood flow. The Mission: Lifeline EMS recognition program honors agencies that provide this high standard of care.
The AHA’s Get With the Guidelines—Stroke Gold Plus Award praises the commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines, ultimately leading to more lives saved and reduced disability.
CRH Emergency Department Director Kelsey Kelley said the hospital is committed to providing the latest treatment guidelines that studies show can help patients recover better.
“The end goal is to ensure more people in De-Witt Co. can experience longer, healthier lives,” Kelley said.
