The DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a shooting near South U.S. Highway 87 and Radio Road in Cuero Saturday, Sept. 27, about 11:41 p.m.
Deputies located the female victim in front of U & I Donuts suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim received life saving measures by a Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper stationed in DeWitt County. The victim transported to a local hospital for further care. Her condition is currently stable. Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 87 when an unidentified vehicle approached and fired several rounds into the victim’s vehicle. The suspect vehicle fled the scene prior to law enforcement arrival.
No description of the suspect or vehicle is being released at this time as the investigation remains active. The DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office reported it is diligently working to identify the individuals responsible.
