Cuero ISD and the Pilot Club of Cuero held the annual Suicide Prevention Walk Wednesday, Sept. 17.
Sponsors said the annual event brought the community together for a cause that impacts countless lives. September marks Suicide Awareness Month.
“Our district was determined to use this opportunity to raise awareness and provide valuable resources for mental health and suicide prevention,” said CISD Family Engagement Fa- cilitator Danielle Laird.

The event featured supportive vendors sharing life-saving information, door prizes, and free giveaways— making it not only impactful but also a welcoming space for all who attended, Laird said.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), suicide is a leading cause of death in the United States, claiming the lives of more than 48,000 people in 2021 alone.
Events like Cuero ISD’s Suicide Prevention Walk play a vital role in breaking the stigma, spreading awareness, and showing support for those in need, Laird added.
“Thanks to the incredible turnout and community support, the event was another huge success, and plans are already underway to make next year’s walk even bigger and better,” Laird said.
