Yorktown’s Annual Western Days will kick off Friday, Oct. 17, for a weekend of fun and excitement, according to organizers.

Since its humble beginnings in 1958, the festival has grown into a beloved tradition that celebrates the spirit of community, family, and heritage. Originally launched to promote the M & M rodeo, the event has evolved over 67 years into a vibrant showcase of small-town pride and festive fun.

Though the rodeo is long gone, the Mueller family remains a cherished part of Western Days. Each year, Andra Mueller Wisian—granddaughter of Leslie and Cecil Mueller—proudly leads off the Grand Parade, honoring the legacy that started it all.

This year’s Western Days promises a full schedule of activities designed to entertain everyone from the young to the young at heart. On Friday, Oct. 17, the festivities begin with a downtown pep rally, rallying support for the Wildcats before their big game. At 6 p.m. the Children’s Parade officially kicks off the weekend.

Saturday starts strong at 10:30 a.m. with the Grand Parade, followed by a full day of fun including: Carnival rides and games, Stick Horse Rodeo, Mutton Bustin’, Pig Scramble, and Kids Hay Dive, Quilt Show and Petting Zoo,TractorShowandthe Goliad Forge. There will be performances by the Ole West Gunfighters, Craft vendors and delicious food options, Cookoffs, a Spray Can Artist, and a Youth Show & Shine.

Sunday continues the excitement with the everpopular Car Show, Arrowhead & Artifact Exhibit, Kids Tractor Pull and Children’s Cookoff, Christa Leigh Dancers and a heartfelt Military Salute honoring our heroes.

Get ready for a weekend packed with toe-tapping tunes and heartfelt community spirit! Western Days brings the sound and soul of Texas to life with a stellar music lineup and a mission that goes far beyond the stage.
