GOD first...Heavenly Father, we know you will give us rain in due time, and we know there is a purpose in what You do. We only hope and ask in Christ’s name for some relief soon. Thank You Lord for the many blessings we have received, all know an unknown. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
Pray for those who are ill, suffering, grieving, or are in harm’s way and rain.
A little old lady and her mule were walking down a dusty street in a dusty old western town, when a cowboy decided to have fun at her expense. He asked her, “Grandma, do you know how to dance?”
”No”, she said.
So he took out his forty-four and shot at her feet and made her dance to the enjoyment of some of the outlaws watching. After having his fun and proving to his buddies how he made her dance, they all headed to the bar across the street. Then they heard a “click click”, turned around and saw the little old lady holding a double-barreled shot gun.
She asked the cowboy, “Have you ever kissed a mule’s ass?”
He said, “No, but I’ve always wanted to.”
While on Saturday, the 4th of October, at The October Fest in Frederiksberg, we met with Ronnie Sacks, who once was the music teacher here in Nordheim and is also the leader of the Round Top Brass Band and was playing at one of the stages we enjoyed listening to. When they finished playing we talked to him and his wife. He told us of his trip to Germany with his wife and family, the entire band and their families, for three weeks going from town to town and playing music and drinking beer. He said that they drank more beer than Cesar Schroeter could sell at the Broadway Bar in Nordheim in any month Cesar sold in a month of Saturdays.
Then on Tuesday Oct. 7, at Galveston, at the State County Judges and Commissioner’s Association, I met with Andria Wiesan, County Commissioner of Kerr County, who told me that Lorie, her sister-in-law, her husband, Kirby Wiesan’ sister, was playing and yodeling at the October Fest in Fredricksburg. We didn’t know that she was also playing there. Would have enjoyed seeing and listening to her and her band again. Lorie and Kirby Wisian both went to school and graduated from Nordheim.
My two daughters took me to Galveston so I could attend the Past Presidents’ Luncheon at the invitation of all the current past presidents by Jim Allison who invites past presidents every year to a special luncheon in appreciation of our assistance in supporting SCJ&CA. There were ten of us past presidents at that meeting, including Ben Seller, Victoria County Judge. One of the past presidents and good friend that I haven’t seen in 20 years, came all the way from Borden County. Borden County is famous for not having anybody in their jail for years and years as the jail is overgrown with brush and is the home of many rattle snakes. I was going to drive to Galveston but my daughter, Rita, had bought a new pickup and who was I to argue.
Thursday, we had Kaffee Klatch at the Schlinke’s residence.
Friday, I went to a funeral in Victoria after exercising.
Saturday, I went to Runge School Flyback here in Nordheim at the Shooting Club.
I had little time to write my article this week because of my busy schedule but here it is. See you next week.
