Friday, Aug. 16 Yorktown scrimmaged the Woodsboro Eagles at Wildcat Stadium. “Pretty pleased with the execution and physicality” Coach Ryan Knostman told his squad post game.

The Wildcats' offense was unstoppable, with players from both their first and second teams scoring numerous touchdowns. The Yorktown defense stood firm against the Eagles.

It appears the Wildcats are implementing a hurry-up offense approach this year in an attempt to disrupt defensive schemes. Unfortunately, it is not conducive to a scrimmage format, so Knostman modified it by allowing Woodsboro to coach their defense before allowing the Wildcats to run to the line and carry out the play. “We were able to execute signals and all those things offensively,” stated Knostman.

“Defensively, I was really excited about how we flew around the football,” Knostman said. The Wildcats strong defense forced turnovers for the Woodsboro squad.

The Wildcat’s motto for the year is “Full Throttle, No Limits” and Knostman felt that this scrimmage exhibited that motto on both sides of the ball as players were running, getting excited, quickly getting to the offensive line and snapping the ball, as well as flying around on defense.

The Wildcats will be back in action with another scrimmage on Friday, Aug. 23 in Bloomington against the Bobcats with junior varsity starting at 5:00 and varsity at 6:00.
