Wildcats Aim to Keep Winning Streak Alive

The Wildcats are preparing for a key district matchup this week against the Louise Hornets (1-5) Friday, Oct. 24.

While Louise has faced a tough season, with losses to Flatonia (44-0), Sacred Heart (62-8), Danbury (20-8), Bloomington (28-20), and Falls City (48-8), they did pick up a 45-8 win over Woodsboro. According to Dave Campbell’s High School Football Magazine, Louise is predicted to finish fourth in the district, while Yorktown is expected to hold third.

Under first-year head coach Cameron Murrah, Louise is still adjusting this season after going 4-7 overall and 2-3 in district play last year. Senior standout Eric Melchor has been a bright spot, leading the team in receiving (14.8 yards per game), rushing (64.2 yards per game), and touchdowns. He also ranks second in defensive tackles, behind Tanner Lott (4.8

vs. 6.3 per game).

The Yorktown Wildcats hold a strong series advantage over the Hornets, leading 8-3 overall, including a decisive 39-0 win last year. The Wildcats will look to take advantage of their experience and team depth as they aim to add another win to the column. With strong performances on both sides of the ball, Yorktown is favored to continue building momentum in district play.
