The Yorktown Wildcats are set to face off against the Falls City Beavers this week in district play. Last season, Yorktown finished 7-4 overall and are off to a strong start this year at 5-1 overall and 2-0 in district play. Last year, Falls City finished 8-4 overall, and this season the Beavers enter the matchup at 3-4 overall and 2-1 in district, having faced some challenges, including injuries, but remain a formidable team when at full strength.
Last year, Falls City came out on top 48-7 when the two teams met. This week gives Yorktown a chance to even the score and strengthen their playoff position with a big district win.
Falls City’s offense is led by quarterback Braylon Johnson, who has spent much of the season sidelined by injury but has recently returned to action. Johnson averages around 130 rushing yards per game, powering the Beavers’ ground-heavy attack. Tyler Pawelek contributes in the passing game when needed, but the team remains focused on controlling the game on the ground. Defensively, Riley Ehrlich leads the team in tackles and fumble recoveries, while Austin Bordovsky has made an impact in the secondary with four interceptions.
