Since 1958, Yorktown Western Days has been a special time for the community— a chance for families, friends, and neighbors to come together and celebrate the small-town spirit. Every October, folks from all over gather to enjoy live music, a hometown parade, delicious cook-offs, carnival rides, local vendors, and memories that last a lifetime. Western Days kicked off Thursday with the opening of the carnival, where you could hear the laughter of the families, and the smell of carnival food. Friday started at 11am with the opening of the Historical Museum. Followed by a heavy presence for the Wildcat Pep Rally. DJ Shane Wilke with Total Entertainment kicked off the music just right, setting the mood for headliner Nathan Colt Young. Saturday was a day full of fun and entertainment. Starting off with the Grand Parade. Oh boy did they have a music line up, started out with the one and only DJ Shane, followed by the Drew Oliver Band, Devin Michaels, Jarrard Birmingham, Wynn Willians and to round out the evening and closing out the show is Stoney Larue. Saturday’s entertainment also included a mechanical bull, spray can artist, and the amazing Tractor/ Implement Show. Gunfighters put on a performance for all to remember. Kids gathered all around to show off their riding skills in the classic hay dive, Mutton Bustin, and pig scramble. Sunday opened with an arrowhead exhibit showing casing natural artifacts. Man let’s not forget the car show, people from all around brought their classics to show off. Kids from all around the community came out and participated in the kid’s tractor pull. All through-out the weekend you could find judges piling into the Fire Station all to get their taste of the amazing cook-off foods. Every gathered around the main stage for a fantastic Military Salute followed by David Frizzell taking the stage as the last live artist of the weekend, taking the music out with an amazing performance.
