The Cuero Gobblers put on an offensive showcase Friday night, Oct. 31, storming past the Ingleside Mustangs 70–20 in a statement victory that highlighted the depth and talent of this year’s squad.

After a slow start that saw the score tied 7–7 at the end of the first quarter, the Gobblers found their rhythm in the second. Behind the arm of quarterback Jaxxon Marie, Cuero took a 21–13 lead into halftime. From there, the Gobblers erupted in the third quarter, outscoring Ingleside 28–7 to stretch their advantage to 49–20 before cruising through the final period.

Marie led the early surge, throwing for 273 yards and four touchdowns, keeping the Mustangs’ defense off balance all night. His favorite target for the night, Walker Dietze, turned in an impressive night with 238 receiving yards and three touchdowns, slicing through Ingleside’s secondary with precision routes and breakaway speed.

When Marie handed over the reins in the fourth quarter, Junior Jayce Guajardo picked up right where he left off. Guajardo finished with 178 passing yards, capping the team’s dominant offensive performance.

The ground game also did its part. Aiden Strecker carried the ball 12 times for 59 yards, while Camelo Perez added 75 yards on 7 carries, showcasing a balanced attack that kept the Mustangs guessing. D’zayvion Bonner contributed 6 receptions for 101 yards, providing another reliable target in the air assault to help maintain the offensive rhythm. With receivers like Bonner and Dietze making crucial catches, the Gobblers kept the chains moving, frustrating the Mustang defense throughout the game.

Head coach Jerod Fikac praised his team’s effort and execution, noting the resilience shown after a tight first half. “Defensively in the second half we made the adjustments and we did a lot better job and offensively we got it going a little bit. I am super proud of the guys, that got us in the playoffs now we just need to finish it up in the end, Coach Fikac said during his after game interview.
