The Cuero ISD Education Foundation has awarded Cuero High School a transformative grant titled “Equipping Cuero High School Students with Industry-Standard Media Tools.”
The grant will directly benefit more than 100 students annually through the school’s Audio Visual (AV) courses, while also enhancing news coverage, sports broadcasting, and event documentation for the entire student body and broader Cuero community. AV Instructor Richard Scott proposed the grant project.
The AV program at Cuero High School is undergoing an exciting expansion, designed to give students deeper, handson experience in filmmaking, broadcasting, and digital media. To support this growth, the grant provides professional- grade equipment that mirrors the tools used by industry experts—ensuring students gain not only technical proficiency but also creative confidence and career-ready skills.
“This grant allows our students to move beyond passive learning,” said Scott. “They’ll be filming, directing, lighting, recording, editing, and troubleshoot-ing— just like real production teams do every day. Each item funded through the grant was carefully selected to reflect current industry standards, helping students build a foundation in projectbased learning that fosters creativity, collaboration, and real-world problemsolving. The result is a future-ready learning environment that positions Cuero High School as a regional leader in student media education.”
The grant was made possible through the support of the Cuero ISD Education Foundation Grant Committee, whose mission is to fund innovative and creative instructional approaches aligned with defined educational objectives. A portion of the proceeds from the Foundation’s annual Concert for Classrooms event helps make grants like this possible— bringing community support full circle into the classroom.
