Even though Facebook can be detrimental to many people, it can also be uplifting to some that read and look through it. I saw something not long ago that really spoke to my heart. It came from the wisdom of an older lady as she shared with a younger woman the meaning of life.
We live in a hurry up world and everyone seems to be in a fastpaced mode. We are always looking at time and how quick we need to move in this world accomplishing what we think is important. We are always looking out for ourselves, and should anyone get in our way, we are not too kind for their interruption.
The message the elderly lady gave to the younger lady was a simple, but an unbelievably valuable one. The younger lady boarded a bus and sat next to the older lady. The younger lady hit her seat partner with her numerous bags and could not understand why the older lady never complained to her.
The older lady said, “There is no need to be rude or discuss something so insignificant, as my trip next to you is short, because I am going to get off at the next stop.”
These words are very valuable and should mean a lot to all of us. Life is short and it does not matter who we are traveling next to, insignificant words and not forgiving others are not worth the time of arguments and frustrations. We never know when our last day on earth will be.
Most of us are going to have trivial mishaps in our lives and, many of us, are going to act in ways that only produce disagreements with those that offend us. It does not matter what the situation is, there is always a solution and most of the time it comes from not being offended and keeping our mouths shut.
There are going to be many hurtful times that come our way but we all must remember to stay calm and resolve the issues because we are only on this earth for a short period of time. To waste our valuable time being frustrated and upset takes away from the beauty of life and gives Satan a chance to lead us away from Christ, who allows us this time on earth.
Useless arguments, jealously, discontentment, bad attitudes, and being unforgiving only hurts the one that is harboring these feelings. If someone betrays you or intimidates you, stay calm and be forgiving. If someone insults you, cheats or humiliates you, stay calm and be forgiving. If someone breaks your heart or a neighbor makes a comment you do not like, stay calm and forgive them. This trip of an earthly life is short, and we are not promised tomorrow.
It does not matter what the problem is, face it and take care of it in a Christian way. Stay calm and remember we are only in these days for a short time.
I do not know who penned the words I have borrowed and summarized from, but they are worth repeating to anyone that will listen. All of us need to be respectful, appreciative of friends and family, and give a smile to everyone you see. Life on this earth is short!
All of us need to remember that if we want the perfect life, we need to accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior and look forward to eternity with Him.
Prayer: Again, Lord Jesus, I thank you for life on this earth. I pray that I am the person that you want me to be. Amen.
