Keep Cuero Beautiful, a local non-profit dedicated to helping beautify the local environment, is thrilled to announce that it has received 2025 HE- B’s Trees for Texans’ For Communities program grant.
To help Texans cultivate a deeper connection to nature and promote environmental stewardship, KCB members will plant native oaks and crepe myrtle trees in collaboration with City of Cuero employees, H-E-B Partners, and community volunteers along the Cuero Park walking trail beginning Monday, November 17, 2025.
“Trees for Texans is a long term investment in the future of all Texans, including our community in Cuero,” said Anahi Vallarruel, Project Manager at H-E-B Environmental Affairs. “The trees planted with community volunteers, Keep Cuero Beautiful members, and our H-E-B Partners will help support biodiversity, provide cleaner air, shade, and water filtration for generations of Texans to come!”
Native trees provide crucial ecosystem services like air and water filtration, shade, and cooling. Trees also enhance our communities, providing educational opportunities and mental health benefits that enrich the quality of life of Texans. The trees planted along Cuero Park’s walking trail will provide a shade area for those on the trail during the hot, summer months.
Trees for Texans, managed by Texan by Nature, will award 26 communities grants in 2025. Local nonprofits across all regions of Texas are invited to apply.
