GOD first

GOD first.... Heavenly Father, help us to learn how to love one another. Keep our feet from evil paths and turn our minds to your wisdom and our hearts into accepting Your Amazing Grace. We pray in the name of our dear Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen. Pray for those who are ill, grieving, ill, or are in harm’s way.

A hotshot vacuum salesman was going from door to door selling the world’s best vacuum cleaner and had a unique way of presenting his wares. He really had done this many times and sold so many that he was the top salesman in the company. Almost noon, he saw a No Salesmen Allowed sigh in the front lawn of this house and walked up to the door and rang the doorbell. As the lady of the house made the mistake of opening the door just a little too much, the salesman stuck his foot in the door and then barged into the home pushing the lady aside and proceeded spreading poop all over the living room carpet. He saw that the lady was horrified and told her, “Lady, I assure you that I can clean up this mess on your carpet with this new vacuum with no trouble at all and if it doesn’t, I’ll eat every bit of it myself.” She replied, “I hope you are hungry because the electric company came and shut off our electricity this morning.”

I went to the Lutheran Parish hall this Thursday morning and made coffee for Kaffee Klatch. It was early, about 6:30 a.m., and I saw that the new ceiling fans had not yet been installed. The electric leads were hanging where the old ceiling fans were hung. After making coffee and placing the cups on the table, I set up all the places around the table with chairs and started wondering if I didn’t hear an announcement in church that we may not have coffee here this morning. Dennis is usually there at 8 a.m., but nobody showed up. At almost 8:30 a.m., Margie from Yorktown came in and so did Dennis. It’s funny how one’s imagination can stir thoughts in one’s head. We finally had 14 people show up.

Most of the conversation was about who was selling land south of Nordheim with two 170 acres of land and the Ammaman place. Nothing was selling under a million dollars. That was one of the main discussions. Since interest on loans went down again, thoughts of getting a bank loan?

Larry mentioned that he heard that somebody was taking a vacation to Alaska to see the construction camps along the Alaskan Pipeline. Larry worked all along the whole pipeline while it was being built and was amazed that anyone would want to see all that.

Being it was the arrival of the first Norther of Fall, everybody wore coats because they were chilled this morning. Sissies! Even cranked up their heaters yesterday and complained about that.

There was discussion about Jake Steiger and his relatives that settled in Nordheim after 1900 who Janice knew a lot about and Myrtle’s memory substantiated and knew a lot of them too. Another story which was inquired about, when they came from the Old Country, how were they able to live on such small boats and live on a boat with a crowd of people? Inquiring minds wanted to know. It surely wasn’t a Cruise Ship. One lady worked and earned her passage by peeling potatoes during the trip.

Many of the classmates. of those present, were asked if anyone knew what happened to certain people since the last time they were seen. Are they still living? Stories were told about who, what, where, when, and if anyone could expand their knowledge of those mentioned. Keeping up with past classmates is sometimes hard to find. If you are one of the people who are still around, we would really like to know. If you are no longer with us, call 1-800962-3433 and if you get a call from that number, don’t answer it. See you next week!
