The big heart of Nordheim beats strong and steady

GOD first...Heavenly Father, what joy it is to have a memory in our late years of so many friends, neighbors, and the experiences we have witnessed. Some are sad, some are beautifully rare, and some have contributed untold stories we are able to share. Lord, help us in remembering the good things and forget the bad. We ask in the name of our dear Savior, Christ Jesus. Amen.

Pray for those who are grieving, ill, suffering, or are in harm's way.

**Three fellows were in church and when it became time to pass the plate, they discovered that they didn't have any money. Not wanting to be embarrassed, one fainted and the other two carried him out.

In this small town of Nordheim, we have the good grace of knowing so many that have contributed to the com-munity in many ways. Many are gone now but there are still some that care what the town is about. Where else can one find such a close tie to those around them? Some have lived here all their lives, some have come and gone. By gone days and current ones are signs of keeping traditions alive. As we continue to make history, those still living, are special in this close knit community. The efforts of a few stand out with their eagerness to make progress in serving and showing that the town is not dead yet.

Our fire department continues to update their equipment, the city administration has updated their ability to serve with new equipment while maintaining the water and sewer facil-ities, our school has expanded with new facilities and built its own track, while serving the many needs of the children. A new store is providing a small source of trying to serve the needs of the people here. The city park is still active while providing meeting places for families, we have a Recreation Center for exercise and places for young people, the Nordheim Shooting Club still has its tractor pulls twice a year with dances, weddings, family reunions, fundraisers, and barbecues. The Lutheran Church is in the process of having pews refurbished and searching for a new pastor. Our Post Office still delivers mail. New houses have been built recently too.

The city, school board, church, Garden Club, Shooting Club, and fire department, still hold monthly meetings to keep their services going. Our small town and a Big Heart is a living witness that still thrives despite what some may think. If you think big cities are for you, fine. We like our privacy, our quiet neighborhoods, and a small town atmosphere. As the town is being bypassed by a fourlane highway, we will still be here and enjoying the many attributes it offers. While some have left for the crowded cities, many still wish they could come back here and be a part of what makes it so great as they too have grown up and gone to other things. I love my town. See you next week.
