The American Legion Dinter Post 3 The American Legion Dinter Post 3 will be hosting a Veteran’s Day Chicken BBQ on Saturday, Nov. 8. The proceeds will go to help local veterans in need and post home improvements. It will be held at the Legion Hall at 310 South Esplanade with pickup from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tickets will be available at DeWitt County Coop and Ander’s Auto Supply.

$15 donation for each chicken.

Arneckeville 4-H Club Arneckeville 4-H Club is hosting a pancake breakfast fundraiser Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Cuero VFW hall from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Plates include pancakes, hashbrowns, sausage, and eggs.

Juice and coffee will be available for those who dine in. Drive thru to go plates are available. Money raised will benefit the Arneckeville 4-H Club Scholarship Fund.

A Journey with the Shroud of Turin Holy Cross Catholic Church in Yorktown presents “A Journey with the Shroud of Turin: Who Do You Say He Is?” Saturday, Nov. 8, 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 9, 1 p.m. The event, A Journey with the Shroud of Turin: Who Do You Say He Is? invites visitors to draw their own conclusions about the Shroud of Turin, the linen cloth which some believe could be the burial cloth of Christ.

Its authenticity has been debated for centuries, by people of varied faith backgrounds and fields of study. Visitors will be able to view a full-size certified replica of the Shroud of Turin, along with panels offering extraordinary insights about the Shroud. All churches are invited.

Yorktown Citywide Community Thanksgiving The Citywide Community Thanksgiving will be held on Sunday, Nov.

9 at 4 p.m. The event will be held at Gruenau Hall.

Everyone is invited to attend. Come and fellowship with the area churches, and enjoy a delicious free Thanksgiving meal with all of the trimmings.

Yorktown EMS BBQ Yorktown EMS is holding our annual BBQ fundraiser on Sunday, Nov. 9 at Yorktown Community Hall. All plates will be to-go. BBQ plates will include brisket, potato salad and beans.

There will be a bake sale on site. This years funds will be used to help replace our stretchers which are over 10 years old and are at the end of life. Tickets will be available at Citizens Bank, Trust Texas Bank, EMS Members or online.

Veteran’s Day Ceremony

A Veteran’s Day Ceremony will be hosted by the DeWitt County Vietnam Veterans of America Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. The ceremony will take place indoors at the Vietnam Veterans of America/De Witt County Veteran’s Center Building in Yorktown, 901 Hwy.

72. The ceremony includes Honors to those who sacrificed and served our nation, a very dynamic and motivational guest speaker, another exciting auction for a Henry Golden Boy Military Edition rifle and handmade quilts. All are welcome to attend and honor those “who gave all” to protect and defend the freedoms we enjoy as Amerians.

Meyersville Veterans Day

Meyersville School will honor veterans on Nov. 11 at 9 a.m. in the Meyersville Gym.

A program entitled “A Grand Old Flag” will be presented by the seventh grade class.

Everyone is invited to join the Panthers as we honor our veterans and celebrate the American flag and the American spirit.

Westhoff ISD Veterans Day

Westhoff ISD will honor veterans who served Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m.

200th Anniversary of Green DeWitt Colony DeWitt County Historical Commission will commemorate the 200th anniversary of Green DeWitt Colony by remembering the lives of some of the original colonists in a program. featuring music by Tejas Pioneers at the Cuero Intermediate Cafeteria at 502 Park Heights Drive in Cuero Sunday, Nov. 16.

Cactus Country at Gruenau Hall Cactus Country will be playing Gruenau Hall Nov. 16. Doors will open at 1:00 p.m., and dancing will be from 2 to 6 p.m. It’s $10 a person with 12 years and under free.

Yorktown Fall Festival

The Yorktown Fall Festival will be held Sunday, Nov. 23, in the afternoon and evening at Yorktown City Park. The specific time will be determined and announced.

Woodman Cemetery Association A Revitalizing Woodman Cemetery Community Worship and Praise Service will be held on Sunday, Nov. 30, at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church at 400 Grant St. in Cuero at 11 a.m. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Eddie Ellis, Adams ChapelAME Church, of Harker Heights.

Child Find Evaluations

School Districts must ensure that a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) is provided for children who are identified as needing special education and related services.

Child Find is a process to identify, locate and evaluate individuals from birth to 21 years of age who may need special education and related services. Evaluations for Cuero, Meyersville, Nursery and Westhoff ISD are available through Child Find. Early childhood intervention programs serve children with developmental delays and their families.
