The Yorktown Wildcats will close out their regular season with a tough matchup against the undefeated Shiner Comanches.
Shiner enters the final week with an 9-0 record and looks to remain perfect as they defeated Louise 54-6 this past week.
The Comanches have been dominant all season, recording impressive wins over Hallettsville (39-7), Rice (3415), Poth (41-19), Industrial (27-21), and Luling (48-7). In district play, they’ve defeated Charlotte (54-0), Falls City (21-14), Pettus (61-6) and Louise (54-6).
Shiner’s offense is led by Jace Caddell, who averages 98.5 rushing yards per game, and Boe Boehm, who leads the team in receiving with 32.8 yards per game. The Comanches rely heavily on their ground game, attempting only 29 passes all season and completing 15 for 252 yards—a .536 completion rate and an average of 31.5 passing yards per game. On the ground, they’ve carried the ball 97 times for 887 yards, averaging an impressive 9.1 yards per carry and 16 rushing touchdowns.
Even more remarkable is Shiner’s defense, which has limited opponents to just 11.12 points per game.
Yorktown, however, brings an explosive offense of its own. The Wildcats share the same .536 completion percentage as Shiner but have a more balanced attack. Yorktown has completed 37 of 69 passes, averaging 106.9 passing yards per game. On the ground, the Wildcats have racked up 2,328 rushing yards on 274 carries, averaging 8.5 yards per carry.
The Wildcats have accumulated an overall 62 record and are currently 3-1 in district play, sitting in third place after falling short to Falls City last week.
The Wildcat Comanche matchup promises to be a physical one, as both teams prefer to control the game through their powerful rushing attacks. Game time is scheduled for Nov 7 in Shiner with kickoff at 7:00 pm
