GOD first...Heavenly Father, as we are thankful for all the known blessings we receive each day and assuredly also the unknown blessings. So many times, we pray for those around us and we in turn are blessed by the prayers of others. The greatest blessings are from You through Your Amazing Grace, and no one can take that away from us. Lord, help us to strengthen our resolve in helping others and in our hearts for those who are in need. We pray in the name of our dear Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Pray for those who are ill, grieving, suffering, or are in harm’s way.
A couple went into an establishment that was partly a bar and partly a restaurant. The couple first went to the bar and ordered some drinks. They were served their drinks by the bartender and they asked him, “How much are these drinks going to cost us?”
The bartender said that the drinks are only 15 cents each.
”Wow!” The couple said. “That’s great. So, if we ordered steaks. How much is that going to cost?”
The bartender said, “Each steak order will be 40 cents each.”
Again, the couple were amazed. “We don’t really understand how anybody can make a living selling at those prices. Can we talk to the manager?”
”Well he’s not available right now. He’s upstairs with my wife and I’m doing to him what he’s doing to my wife.”
The Nordheim FFA & Alumni Supporters are sponsoring a BBQ Chicken Dinner on Sunday, Nov. 16, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Nordheim Shooting Club Hall. Tickets may still be available Wednesday and can be purchased through Pam Remmers. Each dinner will consist of 1/2 chicken, potato salad, green beans, and trimmings. Each plate will cost $15 each.
The Wayne Buesing Place on the east side of Nordheim is being purchased by a couple from Runge. I can’t give names yet as the purchase is still in progress. It was told to me that they are a young couple, and it is our hope that they have lots of children and intend to move to Nordheim soon.
Also heard that the Gus Mueller Farm has sold.
I was going to Cuero last Wednesday or I was thinking it was Wednesday. Somewhere in my mind, I lost a day somewhere. I was dressed to go exercising at the Recreation Center and reached the intersection of Highway 87 and Hwy. 72 when my daughter called me and wanted to tell me she left something for SPY at the Parish Hall for me to move. Told her I’d take care of it tomorrow, Thursday. She told me that today is Thursday. It was 7:15 a.m. Turned around at the gas station and headed back to Nordheim. All the time I was still trying to figure out what the Sam Hill I just did. My daughter went to town and made coffee at the Parish Hall. By the time I got there, coffee was brewing and all I had to do was set up for Koffee Klatch. Myrtle Janssen was the first one there. The coffee was still weak, but by the time Dennis got there, coffee was ready.
I had so many things going on last Wednesday. I found out that racoons and a skunk were eating all my pecans in the back yard. Woke up early last Saturday morning at about 2 a.m. and shined a light under the pecan tree and saw four racoons and a skunk so the next Monday, I set my trap. Caught a cat. Reset the trap and caught a skunk Wednesday morning. Didn’t leave my dog, Lola, go out and tried to figure out what I was going to do with a live skunk. Gave the skunk a pill and put it in a sack and hauled it off. This morning, I caught a racoon and let Lola out and she barked the whole time it took me to go to Cuero and back home. It’s no wonder I have lost my senses. I guess Old Father Time is singing my song. See you next week....if Father Time is still singing.
