The Yorktown FFA Chapter traveled to Blinn College– Schulenburg recently to compete in the Horizon District Leadership Development Events (LDEs), earning several top placements and advancing two events to the upcoming Area XI contest.
This year marks a significant milestone for the chapter, as Yorktown FFA’s Radio Broadcasting team advanced to Area XI for the first time in program history. The team, consisting of Andrew Hahn, Zoe Irvin, and Percy Torrez, placed third in district competition, securing their spot at Area XI.
In addition, Greenhand Creed Speaker Allyson Mika also earned a third-place finish, advancing to the Area contest and continuing a strong tradition of success among Yorktown’s first-year FFA members.
Other district results include:: Ag Advocacy – 7th Place: Allie Geffert, Katie Bolting, Evelyn Merks, Avery Martin, and Kaylee Coleman; Chapter Quiz – 12th Place: Kendall Sievers, Cayden Mika, Rylie Krueger, and Kaylee Coleman and Senior Creed Speaker: Kendall Sievers We are so proud of our members who competed, noting the dedication and preparation required for LDEs, which test students’ communication, critical-thinking, and leadership skills.
The Radio Broadcasting team and Greenhand Creed speaker will travel to Brenham on Nov. 21 to represent Yorktown at the Area XI LDE Contest, where they will compete for the opportunity to advance to the Texas FFA State LDE Contest in December.
