Our Hometown Heroes

Patrol Sgt. Juan Ruiz has spent nearly a decade serving DeWitt County through his work with the DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office. Ruiz will mark 10 years in law enforcement this December.

For Ruiz, building trust and forming meaningful relationships with residents is just as important as the badge he wears.

When he’s off duty, Ruiz enjoys spending time with his family and friends. Weekend barbecues and time with his three children — Caleigh, Haydin and Madelynn — help provide the balance he values in a demanding profession. He also volunteers at local events, including Norma’s House purse bingo and the Touch a Truck event.

Ruiz said he couldn’t do this work without the encouragement of those closest to him. He extends heartfelt thanks to Patricia Ruiz, Shannon Escobar, Melissa Davis and his close friend Brandon Dlugosch for their support throughout his career.
