A MESSAGE FROM
Hello my fellow Cueroites: Thanksgiving is six days away, I have many things to be grateful for, and many blessings have come my way since my last Thanksgiving. The 31st “Let’s Stand Together,” a free community Thanksgiving dinner is scheduled for Thanksgiving Day at noon at Our Lady of Guadalupe Hall, 207 Graham St. Many volunteers, donations and hours are being dedicated to the success of this endeavor. Volunteers are being solicited for assistance in clean up at 4 p.m.. If you have the opportunity to help the community, please call Isabel Patton at 361-564-7868.
On Monday Nov. 17, a luncheon hosted by the Keep Cuero Beautiful committee was held at the park clubhouse. In attendance were representatives from HEB, who sponsored a Trees for Texans program recently and community and city crews, who assisted in distribution and planting of trees. A shout out to former Mayor Sarah Post Meyer for her continuing community service to the Citizens of Cuero.
A visit to the Boys and Girls Club of Cuero to personally thank the 3rd grade students who created postcards thanking me for my military service and a tour of the facilities, ended the day. Shout out to Ms. Laurie Pokluda for the tour and her selfless interest in Cuero’s children The Mayor’s Youth Council and Ambassadors from the 4H, toured the Cuero Regional Hospital on Tuesday Nov. 18. Thank you to Tamara Kainer for her presentation on medical professions and volunteer and internships offered at the hospital. A tour of multiple departments to include the Nursery, ICU, Emergency room, Xray and Cat scan rooms, lab and pharmacy was very informative. Thanks go out to hospital administrators and Ms. Kainer for approving and making the time for our youth.
Our Gobblers will play the Gonzales Apaches on Friday, Nov. 21, in Yoakum. Best of luck to the team and coaches. I am so proud of all the accomplishments the team has achieved this season. May the Good Lord keep everyone safe tonight. Happy Thanksgiving! More to follow.
