The Cuero Independent School District Education Foundation is making a final call for year-end contributions, asking the community to invest in the academic futures of Cuero ISD students before Dec. 31.
Every contribution helps fund scholarships and innovative classroom projects designed to build confidence and open doors for local youth.
“This isn’t about funding budgets— it’s about fueling the dreams of the next generation of Cuero students,” said Darwin Koenning, President of the Cuero ISD Education Founda-tion. “A gift today helps a high school senior realize a scholarship just made college possible or sparks discovery when a third-grader uses a robotics kit for the very first time.”
For more than two decades, the Foundation has served as a bridge between community generosity and classroom innovation. Since its founding in 2002, the Foundation has surpassed $1.5 million in total awards, benefiting students and educators. These funds support innovative learning experiences like robotics kits and outdoor gardens, and they empower students and alumni to pursue higher education or skilled careers through scholarships. The generosity of the community also supports essential school upgrades, including those at the CISD Performing Arts Center, which enriches the lives of students and the entire community.

The Foundation’s success depends on the continued partnership of individuals, families, and businesses throughout Cuero. A yearend donation creates a lasting impact, fueling confidence and creating possibility in the lives of Cuero students. Each donation is a spark—a light that helps guide Cuero ISD students toward their potential.
Donations made before the end of the year are fully tax-deductible, and the Foundation reminds donors that year-end giving offers several financial advantages. These include lowering a donor’s adjusted gross income (AGI) and providing solutions for seniors, such as using a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from an IRA to meet their Required Minimum Distribution (RMD). Donors may also choose to donate appreciated assets like stocks to avoid capital gains tax.
”We urge the community to seize this opportunity to invest in education, inspire possibility, and help build a stronger Cuero this season,” Koenning added. Donors can direct their gifts toward general funds, specific scholarships, or special projects.
