Golden Crescent CASA proudly announces the swearing-in of its newest Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers.
Pamela Hughes, Nancy McBee, Lori Cantu, and Valerie Licon completed extensive training and are now officially appointed by the courts to advocate for children in foster care across the Golden Crescent region. We also want to thank Judge Lisa Harvey Moore for her continued support and warm welcome to our new volunteers.
These dedicated volunteers will serve children in Victoria, Calhoun, DeWitt, Goliad, Gonzales, Jackson, Lavaca, and Refugio counties— ensuring each child has a consistent, caring adult focused solely on their best interests. CASA volunteers work alongside Child Protective Services, attorneys, and caregivers to help judges make the most informed decisions possible for a child’s safety and well-being.
“We are incredibly proud of this new group of advocates,” said Diana Sneed, Executive Director of Golden Crescent CASA. “Their commitment to standing up for children who have experienced abuse or neglect brings hope, stability, and a stronger voice to some of the most vulnerable youth in our communities.”
The newly sworn-in volunteers completed more than 30 hours of training covering courtroom procedures, trauma-informed care, cultural humility, and the child welfare system. Supported by professional staff, they will now begin serving children who are navigating the challenges of foster care.
Golden Crescent CASA extends special gratitude to Texas State House District 30 Representative AJ Louderback for his support of CASA’s mission and his commitment to the wellbeing of children and families across the region. “When children are left hurt and abused by the people they should be able to trust the most, it is with gratefulness and encouragement that we support the efforts of CASA volunteers who make the commitment to advocate for these kids. We must protect the children,” said Representative Louderback. His encouragement of community involvement helps strengthen the network of advocates standing up for local youth and we thank him for attending our swearing in ceremony in Victoria.
Golden Crescent CASA is actively seeking additional volunteers to meet the growing needs of children entering the child welfare system. No special background or experience is required—just compassion, dedication, and the willingness to speak up for a child’s best interests.
