There were 23 entries from DeWitt County at the 63rd Annual DeWitt County Pecan Show held at the Friar Ag Center in Cuero Tuesday, Nov. 25.
There were 60 entries from five counties (DeWitt – 23 entries, Victoria – 18 entries, Lavaca – 15 entries, Goliad – 2 entries, Jackson – 2 entries). The judges determined that 31 of these entries were good enough to advance on to the Regional Show.
Classic Division

Grand Champion: Joe Janak of Hallettsville; Reserve; Champion: Andrew Kutac of Hallettsville The Pecan Show Committee also sponsors a Pecan Pie Contest. The first and second place winners also received cash awards. The winners were:
Pecan Pie Winners Adult Division: 1st Place – Pat Elder of Cuero – Granny Elder’s Pecan Pie; 2nd Place – Donna Drehr-Cox of Cuero – Granny Annie’s Pecan Pie Youth Division: 1st Place – Kaitlyn Roeder of Yorktown 4-H; 2nd Place – Ayla Nessel of Arneckeville 4-H Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Family and Community Health Pecan Bake Show was also held at the Friar Ag Center on November 24th. 1st Place: Ayla Nessel of Arneckeville 4-H The East Texas Regional Pecan Show will be held in College Station Feb. 3-4. The Annual Pecan Show is sponsored by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service of DeWitt County and the Pecan Show Committee.
Committee members and Extension Agents working at the show this year were: Anthony Netardus, Denise Goebel, Kernell Moritz, Bill Braden, Mark Vavrusa, Andrew Kutac, Pam Kutac, Lloyd Boedeker, Jim Bluntzer, Will Williams, and Joe Janak. The judges for the 2025 Pecan Show were Scott Willey, Fayette County Ag Extension Agent and Paul Hajovsky, Fayette County pecan grower.
The Grand Champions in each of the three pecan divisions received a $25 cash award. Special thanks to Cuero Pecan House and Cuero Pecan House Café for sponsoring the cash prizes; and Cuero Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture for sponsoring the rosettes and ribbons.
