The Cuero Tree Board recognized two major contributors to the planting of 70 trees in Municipal Park with bench dedications on Texas Arbor Day Friday, Nov. 21.

Former Mayor and Keep Cuero Beautiful President Sara Post-Meyer was recognized with a bench in her name for helping get a grant from REPSOL for the planting of the trees.

Meyer said she was surprised to learn about the dedication.

“To be recognized for doing what I’ve done over the years to help make Cuero a better place for its people to thrive is quite special,” Meyer said. “So many people working together to create a place to rest in nature is remarkable. I’m a part of that.”

REPSOL, which is a global, multi-energy company headquartered in Spain, was recognized for the gift with the other bench.

The trees were planted in the spring, and the benches overlook the trees. They were built along the walking trail behind the Little League fields where walkers can relax and enjoy the beauty of the grove of trees.

Texas A&M Forestry Service presented a program on Texas Arbor Day at the ceremony.
