YVFD Stew Fundraiser

Yorktown Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting a Stew Fundraiser Thursday, Dec. 4, at 5 p.m. until sold out. $15 per quart.

2026 Nordheim FFA Stock Show Weigh In The monthly weigh-in for the Jan. 31 Nordheim FFA Stock Show will be held on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Nordheim School FFA Show Barn. This is a mandatory weigh-in for all swine, market steers, heifers, sheep, breeding sheep, goats, and breeding goats. Questions or concerns? DeWitt County GOP Candidate Applications Deadline DeWitt County Republican Party will be accepting applications for Precinct Chairs, County Chair and Primary Candidates in the GVEC Community Room, 1015 E. Broadway in Cuero Monday, Dec. 8, from 5 to 6 p.m., which is the last day for candidates to file. Applications must be accompanied by a cashier’s check or money order payable to DeWitt County Republican Party and the form must be notarized. Precinct Chairs are needed for 101, 203 and 301, and a secretary is needed for taking notes at meetings. Precinct chair and secretarial duties can be combined if someone is interested in dual roles.

Christmas in Nordheim Vendors will be set up at the Nordheim Fire Station from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Nordheim Museum will be selling a Brown Bag Special consisting of sandwich, chips and drink for $8. The museum will be open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Vicki Cross will be entertaining with music from 2 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dancers from Christa Leigh’s School of Dance will be performing at 4:30 p.m. At the Nordheim Recreation Center the Nordheim High School Senior Class will be hosting a Chili Dinner Fundraiser consisting of chili, cornbread and drink for $8. The Christmas Tree will be lit at Broadway Street at 6 p.m., and Santa Claus will show up at that time.

Meyersville ISD Financial Accountability Rating Meyersville ISD will hold a public meeting at 6:00 pm, Monday, Dec. 8, in the computer lab at 1897 Meyersville Road, Meyersville, TX 77974. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss Meyersville ISD’s rating on the state’s financial accountability system.

Brunch Buddies & Bingo

Texas Wreath Laying Ceremony

Coastal Bend State Cemetery will host a wreath laying ceremony Saturday, Dec. 13, at 11 a.m. 9974 IH 37 Access Road, Corpus Christi.

Library/Crown Hospice Senior Social Hour Crown Hospice is holding a Senior Social Hour at the Yorktown Public Library on the 1st Monday of every month. The social hour begins at 10 a.m. and is open to the public. Bingo, prizes and snacks are all provided free of charge. The hosts look forward to you attending.

Cuero VFW Post 3972 has resumed weekly games of Bingo at the Post Home. Games will begin at 7:30 p.m. Proceeds of these games benefit local charities, youth, and veterans in need. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Child Find Evaluations School Districts must ensure that a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) is provided for children who are identified as needing special education and related services. Child Find is a process to identify, locate and evaluate individuals from birth to 21 years of age who may need special education and related services. Evaluations for Cuero, Meyersville, Nursery and Westhoff ISD are available through Child Find. Early childhood intervention programs serve children with developmental delays and their families. Child Screening Services

Residents of Yorktown, are you aware of a child with problems walking, seeing, moving or thinking? Free screening services are available for children from birth through five years of age. Call 361-564-2252 ext. 3002 for an appointment. Screening will be held at Yorktown Elementary School.

Genealogy Library

Meals on Wheels Volunteers Needed Volunteers are needed to help deliver meals in the central DeWitt County area for Meals on Wheels South Texas.
