Hello All, As August 2024 comes to an end, I look forward to September. On Wednesday August 21st, I welcomed Ernesto Ancira and his family to Cuero. The Ancira Group acquired the Partners car dealership, and Mr. Ancira and his family are honored and proud to be a part of the Cuero Community.
The City Council is set to hold public hearings on the coming year’s tax rate and budget with the goal of having an approved budget for Fiscal year 2025, which begins on October 1. schedules and meeting agenda can be found on the City of Cuero website. The first meeting discussing the formation of the Mayor's Youth Council was held last week with another to be held Monday, August 26. I am optimistic we are close to soliciting for and accepting applicants from our High School juniors and seniors. The first meeting to plan this year's Christmas in the park was held last week. Plans are underway to start putting up scenes in early October; the hope is to have the park’s speaker system in operation for this year’s event. The speaker system will allow the playing of Christmas music as you drive through the park.
In mid-September the Cuero Turkeyfest and City of Cuero delegation head to Worthington Minnesota for King Turkey Days and the first heat of the Great Gobbler Gallop: ‘Go Ruby Go’. The Worthington Community sponsors a community free pancake breakfast on Saturday morning before the parade. I believe the Cuero Community can start this tradition. The plan is to have a trial run with the preparation and serving of approximately 100 plates on a first come, first serve basis. The event is planned for Cuero Market Day, September 28, at 8:00 am at the Main street walk-through downtown. Watch out for further details. Keep canvassing the local organizational and government websites for the month’s events. More to follow.
