My Fellow Cueroites: What a playoff game this past Friday night, Dec. 5 in San Antonio. I stood up the entire game, the Gobblers played their hearts out, but unfortunately the Sinton Pirates were helped by the clock.
I am so proud of our young men for an outstanding season. The coaching staff should be congratulated as well. Cuero showed up that night, I was so proud of the turnout by all the Gobbler fans at the game, great community support.
I attended a zoom meeting concerning the current comprehensive plan development. The plan will be the city’s guide for the next 15 years,. I am very pleased with the input coming in from many sources throughout the city. The next event regarding the plan is a city-wide survey which should roll out in the next few weeks. Please participate in the survey. Your voice and ideas are needed for a full and robust comprehensive plan.
Applications are currently being accepted at the Cuero Police Department for the 4th Citizens Police Academy starting on Tuesday, Jan. 20. I am a graduate of the 2nd academy, I have been in Criminal Justice most of my life and despite the fact, I learned new things, I also teach two classes during the academy. They are: 1. Situational awareness-selfawareness and personal safety tips in public and home defense.
2. Gangs-prison, street, cartels and Outlaw motorcycle gangs. I highly recommend the course.
The Mayor’s Youth Counsel will be distributing hot chocolate this coming Thursday, Dec. 11 ,at Christmas in the Park, please come out and meet these outstanding young leaders.
The Christmas in Downtown will be in full swing on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 12-13 respectively,. Bring the kids and have a good time.
Shout out this week to the Gobbler football team, as well as the coaching staff, the cheering and spirit teams and the Cuero band for representing the City of Cuero amicably,.Cuero ISD’s athletic programs are well known and respected throughout Texas and the nation Did you know property taxes only cover 17% of the city’s total yearly revenues. Property taxes do not cover total funding of the police department.
Have a great week!! More to follow!!
