Hello my fellow Cueroites!
Christmas is around the corner! Been busy this last week attending and volunteering at various Christmas themed events.
On Dec. 9, during the Mayor’s Youth Council meeting, I presented last year’s member with an autographed copy of the book “On Fire by John O’Leary.” I was honored to attend his motivation presentation in Fort Worth last month. Mr. O’Leary, a motivational speaker and author, suffered burns over 100% of his body when he was nine years old. He was not expected to live, he beat the odds and has a very productive life today. Mr. O’Leary personally took the time to sign by name each book to the MYC members. “Soul on Fire” on Apple TV is the true story of Mr. O’Leary’s story.
On Dec. 11, I delivered a welcome and opening remarks at the Region Foster Parent Christmas gathering. The Yorktown School band provided Christmas carols and the guests enjoyed a wonderful meal and gift drawing. Shout out to the Tri-City Empowerment organization for such a wonderful event for all.
On the same night, the Mayor’s Youth Council distributed hot chocolate at the Christmas in the Park. Over 1,000 cups of hot chocolate were made and distributed, and the council enjoyed the evening.
This Wednesday per my invitation, San Antonio Native, Rylie Rodriguez will be in Cuero to speak to the Mayor’s Youth Council, tour Cuero and experience a hayride through Christmas in the Park. Ms. Rodriguez plays the youngest daughter of Demi Moore (Cami) and Jack Hamm in the Paramount+ movie, “Landman.” Ms. Rodriguez graciously accepted the invitation and is excited on the opportunity to address the Youth Council and learn more about Cuero.
My grandkids rode the horse drawn carriage, ice skated and ate cotton candy and funnel cake this weekend at Christmas Downtown. Shout out to Sandra Osman, Angie Cuellar, Samantha Solis and all the volunteers which made the event successful.
The following two weeks will be operated in modified schedules due to Christmas. Please be mindful of city office hours and sanitation pick schedules which can be accessed on the Cuero government website. Did you know Cuero’s Christmas in the Park maintains its operations based on donations only? The December Events Committee (CDC) is proud to sponsor the event admission fee free.
Shout out once again to the Christmas Downtown event success, many organizations, city staff and volunteers contribute countless hours, before, during and after the event. Thank you so much! More to follow.
