KCB hosts contest to encourage youth recycling

Keep Cuero Beautiful recently hosted a “Something from Nothing” holiday ornament contest to encourage young students to recycle and reuse recyclable materials like cardboard, plastic bottles and plastic straws.

The contest was for K-1st grades and 2nd-4th grades. There were 105 entries judged for their use of and number of materials in the upcycled ornament. The students who placed received gift cards to a local restaurant.

The winners were: K-1st grades students Paxton Murray, 1st Place; Bella Watson, 2nd Place; and Harper Wanjura, 3rd Place, and 2nd-4th grades students Sofia Castro, 1st Place; James Belew, 2nd Place; and Seriah Martinez, 3rd place
