The Fall 2025 athletic season at Yorktown was marked by resilience, competitive success, and postseason appearances. From the gridiron to the volleyball court, Wildcat and Kitty Kat athletes rose to challenges and delivered memorable performances.
The Yorktown Wildcat football team opened the season with a loss to Karnes City but quickly responded by putting together an impressive sixgame winning streak. The team finished the year with a 7–4 overall record and went 3–2 in district play, showing steady improvement as the season progressed. Defense proved to be a major strength, highlighted by two shutout victories over Pettus (59–0) and Louise (44–0). After the winning streak, the Wildcats faced tough losses to Falls City (49–22) and Shiner (61–12), two of the district’s top programs. Yorktown advanced to the postseason and made a strong playoff run, defeating Agua Dulce 58–34 in bidistrict play before falling to Granger 62–30 in the area round. The season showcased the team’s grit, defensive dominance, and ability to respond after adversity. Ryan Knostman earned Academic All-State recognition, exemplifying the Wildcats’ commitment to excellence on and off the field.
The Yorktown Kitty Kat volleyball team wrapped up an impressive season competing in Conference 2A, District 28 alongside Bloomington, Falls City, Kenedy, and Pettus. The district race was highly competitive, with Falls City claiming the championship and Kenedy and Yorktown tying for runner-up honors. The Kitty Kats advanced to the bidistrict playoffs, earning a matchup against Schulenburg. Although Yorktown’s postseason run came to an end, the team’s teamwork, effort, and determination were evident throughout the season. Individual achievements highlighted the year, as Palyn Koopmann was named Setter of the Year. Hayle Russell, Claire Person, and Gracie Stehling earned First Team All-District recognition, reflecting the talent and depth of the Kitty Kat volleyball program.

The Yorktown Cross Country team competed in five regular-season meets, including the Kenedy Meet, Karnes City Invitational, Islander Splash, Goliad Tiger Meet, and the Hallettsville Sacred Heart Meet, before participating in the District 31-2A meet at West Guthrie Park in Corpus Christi. The team demonstrated dedication and consistent improvement throughout the season. Carly Weischwill and Zoe Irvin earned First Team Academic All-State honors, showcasing the team’s balance of athletic and academic achievement.
