If you are looking for a chance to learn more about the principles of good gardening, consider registering for the 2026 Victoria County Master Gardener Association Training Class starting Feb. 5 in Victoria.
The class is open to residents of Victoria and surrounding counties.
Held at the VCMGA VEG Pavilion, 283 Bachelor Dr., across from the Victoria County Regional Airport control tower, the class meets each Thursday February through May. This is a 50-hour class which will be held 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. No classes will be held on May 12 and April 12.
Class coordinator and Master Gardener Jennie Pritchett of Cuero will lead the sessions which is Sponsored by VCMGA and the Victoria County Office of the Texas A&M Ag- riLife Extension Service.
Registration is in progress and will continue through Jan. 31. The cost for registration is $200 to cover expenses.

There is payback to completing the required hours and training toward becoming a certified Master Gardener. It opens up the opportunity not only of a comprehensive knowledge of gardening but getting to know and work with others who share a passion for working the soil.
Currently the nonprofit organization has a membership of approximately 100. Becoming a certified Master Gardener requires completing the class and performing at least 50 hours of approved volunteer work.
There will be a meet and greet event Jan. 31 at VEG Pavilion to welcome would-be Master Gardener trainees. Master Gardener volunteers will be on hand to answer questions from 10 a.m. until noon.
