DeWitt County recently implemented the new emergency notification system Everbridge to quickly disseminate critical information to residents in emergency situations.
Everbridge replaces the CodeRED system and provides better tools to send alerts by text message, phone call, email, and through a mobile app — all at the same time. Whether it’s severe weather, a road closure, a boil-water notice, or a public safety issue, the system helps make sure residents receive the warnings efficiently.
Everbridge is also connected to IPAWS, the same federal alert system used for Amber Alerts and major weather warnings. When there is a serious threat, DeWitt County can push out alerts through the same channels that send emergency messages to phones, TVs, and radios.
Another helpful feature is location-based alerts, so residents only get messages that apply to where they are, helping cut down on confusion.
Anyone signed up for CodeRED is already in the system and no action is necessary to be switched to Everbridge.
For information about signing up, updating information or any other question, contact the DeWitt County Office of Emergency Management at 361-2750878 or by email at [email protected].
The goal is simple, to make sure residents get clear, reliable information when it is needed most. Everbridge will help make De Witt County safer and better prepared.
